Madonna and Guy Ritchie were introduced to one another by mutual friend and fellow celebrity Sting. They were married at the Skibo Castle in Scotland on December 22, 2000.
On August 11, 2000, the couple gave birth to their first child together. The child was a son, and they named him Rocco. There was a semi-decent sized controversy in October 2006 when Madonna travelled to Malawi to assist with building an orphanage, but while she was there, adopted a Malawian boy named David. The controversy came from Malawi in that their laws required that potential parents must live in the country for a period of one year.
Both Madonna and Guy Ritchie are faithful followers of the Kabbalah Centre, and regularly devote time and money to practice and spread it's teachings to others.
