Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams met during the casting of the movie "The Notebook". Both actors won the lead role, and the film went on to become a surprise hit. Rumors started surfacing that the on-screen couple may have been actually dating. This rumor was furthered when, during the 2005 MTV Movie Awards, the couple won the "Best On Screen Kiss" award.
