Abby Lockhart first appears as an ER nurse in season six, and quickly became the heart and soul and show. Shortly after accepting the position in the ER, she begins a relationship with Dr. Luka Kovac. On the couples first true date, they are mugged, and Luka ends up killing the mugger. Despite the setback, the couple does end up dating through season eight, before family issues tear them apart.
In season 12, the couple rekindles the romance in the episode titled "The Human Shield". Three weeks later, viewers around the world found out that Abby was pregnant with Luka's child. The television couple was married in season 13, which ended with Luka taking an emergency trip to Croatia due to a family emergency.
