Carrie often returns to a man she calls "Mr. Big" whom she met during the first episode of the series. The two dated, and Carrie fell love with him. Throughout the series, they carry on an 'on again, off again' relationship, but his "committment issues" and problems with initimacy often frustrate her. She repeatedly returns to the relationship even though he is clearly emotionally unavailable to her and unable to meet her needs.
In the final episode she encounters Mr. Big in a Paris hotel's lobby. He came to Paris to reunite with her with the blessing of her friends. She kisses him after he tells her that she is The One. They both return to New York (where his first name is finally revealed as John on her cell phone) to the delight of her friends, and resume their relationship once again.
