| As if it isn't bad enough that one of them was raised a devout Catholic and the other believes in aliens inhabiting a person's body, this couple's beginnings were far from normal. From what I've heard, not even Katie Holmes could quite define how the relationship started (from an episode of Letterman). Apparently Cruise just decided to call her up out of the blue and ask her out on a date--Odd? Most definitely. He didn't crimp out on the expenses, though. From what I hear, they had a very nice sushi dinner aboard his private jet. It all seems so romantic on TV, but is anyone else a little weirded out by this relationship? By the whole 'silent birth' dilemma? I've given birth before. It's DAMN HARD to keep silent when you're trying to push a seven pound baby out your 'you know what'. If she's happy with it, then far be it from me to judge, but I firmly believe that someone should not have to abandon or compromise her faith, even for someone she loves. If you love someone, they should accept you AND your faith and not attempt to change it. |

| I completely agree with you! When a person changes who they are to become what someone else wants the relationship never turns out well. There is such an EXTREME difference between Catholics and Scientologists. The gossip columns don't only have Katie giving up her religion, but her profession as well. All this makes me think of Tom as a control freak. Of course I don't think anyone ever threw a dart at a phone book, landed on my name and took me on a private jet for dinner - so maybe I would give up my identity for that. Uh, nope! Here is a question: what does Katie get out of all this? Don't say Tom Cruise's baby. |

| What I think Kate(ie) gets out of it is being with a man that she had a crush on as a teen that is larger than life and world famous being suddenly interested in her. And she is young and nieve(sp). Sounds like that would be overwhelming for someone not yet established emotionally, I could see how someone like Kate(ie)(I have seen all of Tom's movies and used to kiss his poster at night) could easily fall deeply in love very quickly with someone experienced and that knows how to manipulate her into believing he is head over heals about her. In ten years she will probably grow up and will give an exclusive interview to people magazine and turn into Nicole Kidman, wink wink, saying the things she says now. How it was difficult to have freindships and outside interestes when she was with him because he was controlling. And then she will restart her career and win an Oscar or some other phony baloney award. |

| I also think Tom is at a place in his life where he needs to prove a few things to people. There have been rumours for years he is sterile and gay. Well now, I guess Kate(ie) helped to "disprove" both of those didn't she.....of course she probably won't get that part of the relationship until much much later...... |

| With rulsgrl's comment in mind, you know people thought the same thing about Michael Jackson and then he had kids - but has anyone noticed how they look NOTHING like him? I see some parallels here. |

Yeah, how does a black (he's black biologically) man have snow white kids with bright blond hair. Biracial kids are usually not that white. I think they probablly aren't his biologically.
I am really looking forward to Tomkitten's tell all when he/she is grown. Maybe then we shall have some of our questions answered.

I guess his old publist Pat Kingsley had a much harder job than anyone realized. After she was fired, that is when the real Tom came out in the press. When she was his publist, she really kept him reigned in and composed. He really needs to beg her to come back.
I haven't seen any of the MI movies or the old tv show, so I don't really even know what it is about (don't care either). Big blow'em up movies with blown up buildings and car chases are sssssoooooo 90's......
Now x-men, thats a movie!!!! Tom ought to take some leasons from Hugh Jackman, he has some decorum and class. |
